What does ZIPme do?
ZIPme creates ZIP packages to install in recovery mode. When you install a new ROM your system is wiped and many times you clear your data. ZIPme can create a package of your apps, data and files you want to install right after a ROM or as a ROM addon. ZIPme programs and signs the update ZIP package so your recovery can install it.
The app is currently in beta stage. We didn’t get any major bug while testing this app. It has a very simple and easy to use user interface.
To create a package first you have to click the ZIPme button in the middle or the plus button which is located at the bottom. You will get a popup showing following attribute :
1.Apps
2.Data
3.System
4.File
5.Folder
From here you can select what type of data you want to include in your package.
Apps:
When you tap on apps you will be on a window where you can see all the downloaded apps. To add system app to package just swipe through. Once you have selected your apps select done on right top corner. After clicking on done you will get a popup which will ask u weather you want to add app, data or both. Select as per your needs and you will be on a screen where you will see your selected apps hit the plus button again if you need to add some more apps or other things i.e. data, system, file, folder or just click the create button. It will ask you the location to save the package. So select appropriate location for saving it. The time required for creating the package depends upon the size of the files included in the package.
Data:
When you click on data the following options will pop up :
1.Accounts ( Adds account data to package).
2.App widgets (Adds app widget data to package).
3.Bluetooth pairing (Adds Bluetooth’s paring data to package).
4.Country language (Adds Country, language & time settings to package ).
5.Data usage (Adds data usage statistics to package).
6.Messages ( Backups messages to package ).
7.Wallpaper ( Backups Wallpaper ).
8.Wi-Fi settings. ( Backup Wi-Fi settings including keys ).
System:
Here you can add system components to the package. You will get following options when you click on system:
1.Busybox ( Adds busybox to package ).
2.prop (Adds build.prop to package ).
3.Bootanimation (Adds bootanimation to package ).
4.System Fonts (Adds system fonts to package ).
5.Hosts (Adds hosts ad block file to package ).
6.d ( Adds init.d to package ).
Note : Flashing System component on different ROM can cause soft / hard bricks and even data loss. Droiddevs will not responsible for any data loss or dead devices.
Files:
By clicking on files we can easily add a file to the update package. When you hit files a window will pop which will allow you to browse and add file to package. Just hit create once you have selected files to add to your package.
Folder:
By clicking on folders we can easily add some folders which we wish to be flashed. When you hit folder a window will pop which will allow you to browse and add folders to package. Just hit create once you have selected folders to add to your package.
Final Step :
Once you have selected different attribute you are ready to create a zip package. Tap on create, you will get a pop up saying ZIPme is in beta stage, click continue and your zip is created. It will take some time but chill your package will be created.
Once you create your package you are ready to reboot to recovery from this app itself. Just tap the three dots at bottom right and select “Reboot Recovery” to enter recovery and flash the package.
